"Several other individuals are still in the process of identification from video recordings and pictures. All individuals involved are asked to cooperate in the investigation of the demonstration," said PDRM Chief Irjen Pol Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani quoted Antara, Sunday, 1 August.

Arcyl said police had begun an investigation against the organizers and participants of the protest for allegedly violating the standard COVID-19 prevention procedures under laws and regulations on the prevention of infectious diseases.

Acryl said more than 20 police reports had been filed across the country as a result of the protests.

"Police have previously warned all parties to comply with the standard operation procedure (SOP) of the National Recovery Plan (PPN) for the safety of the public, and stated that stern action will be taken against all parties who deliberately violate the SOP," he said.

However, Acryl continued, stubborn organizers and participants have been given priority for safety and health in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
