Official! Kemenpora Issues National Sports Activity Protocol

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) officially issued a health protocol for sports activities amid the new normality. This protocol will be a guide for sports to do training or hold a championship.

The guidelines are contained in letter number 6.11.1 / Menpora / VI / 2020 concerning the Protocol for the Prevention of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Transmission in Youth and Sports Activities in Supporting the Continuity of Activity Recovery through Adaptation to Changes in Lifestyle in a New Normal Order.

In general, this guide regulates general matters such as maintaining distance, wearing masks, and also washing hands. In particular, this protocol regulates sports activities such as national and regional training, as well as national and regional championships.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Gatot S. Dewa Broto emphasized that this guide is general. The reason is, the character of each sport is different.

"However, sports are still obliged to comply with these guidelines because there are several things that are quite detailed, even though sports have their own health regulations," said Gatot in his official statement.

Kemenpora divides three stages in sports activities. The first stage, sports activities may be carried out again for each individual sports parent while still implementing strict COVID-19 prevention protocols. One of them is conducting PCR tests for all personnel.

Meanwhile, team sports enter stage II. Phase II also regulates domestic championship activities. It was stated that a sports competition could be held if it had received permission from the government and was held on a limited basis, without spectators.

In the third stage, Kemenpora has allowed sports to hold domestic and foreign trials. Sports competitions can also be held with a maximum audience of 30 percent of the available capacity. The audience must also show a negative PCR test result.

However, Kemenpora did not mention in detail the timing of the three stages. This will be adjusted to the latest developments in the COVID-19 phase and the policies of the task force to accelerate the handling of COVID-19.

Regarding the time to start training and the determination of limiting the number of personnel when training becomes the decision of the parent or sports organization.
