Aceh Customs Fails 254 Smuggling, Ranging From Pornographic Goods, Cosmetics To Narcotics 1,913 Tons
ACEH - The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of Aceh Province thwarted 254 smuggling of illegal goods from January to June 2021.
Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of Aceh Province, Safuadi, said that although the COVID-19 outbreak was still ongoing, smuggling cases were still rampant.
"The proof is that for the period January to June 2021, the Aceh Customs and Excise has taken 254 actions against the smuggling of illegal goods," Safuadi said in Banda Aceh, quoted from Antara, Friday, July 30.
Safuadi said the smuggled items consisted of various types, such as plant seeds, pornographic goods, sugar, onions, used clothes, and cosmetics.
In addition, said Safuadi, there are narcotics, psychotropic substances, and precursors. The crackdown on the smuggling of narcotics, psychotropics, and precursors was carried out nine times throughout 2021.
"The smuggling of narcotics, psychotropics and precursors involves transnational actors. A total of 1,913 tons of evidence were secured. That's a lot," said Safuadi.
Safuadi said Customs and Excise will continue to work optimally to monitor and prevent the entry of illegal goods into Indonesian territory, especially through Aceh Province.
"We are synergizing with the police, the National Narcotics Agency, and other relevant agencies in preventing and cracking down on the smuggling of illegal goods," said Safuadi who is also the Head of Representative of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance in Aceh Province.
