AMD To Launch Zen 4 CPU And RDNA 3 GPU In 2022
JAKARTA – AMD will launch its Zen 4 CPU and RDNA 3 graphics card in 2022. The announcement was made by Dr Lisa Su as AMD's CEO after the company submitted its financial report in the second quarter of 2021.
Launching Forbes, the financial report shows an increase in revenue of 99 percent year-on-year (YoY). The increase was obtained from the sale of Ryzen CPUs and GPUs at higher prices than before. In addition, laptop sales have also supported the increase.
Coupled with Tesla's use of silicon in the Model X and Model S EV. The company also provides dedicated processors to game console developers. AMD also provides processors for the Valve SteamDeck.
The presence of the Zen 4 CPU that many people have been waiting for is expected to help the 5nm manufacturing process with DDR5 support with the new 3D V-Cache technology that was previously present in the Zen 3 CPU.
Despite the current global shortage of chips, AMD is optimistic that it will launch the new CPUs and GPUs in 2022. In addition, crypto mining has also driven demand for GPUs higher than ever.
Crypto mining has fueled a shortage of GPUs, prompting manufacturers to increase their prices as Nvidia did some time ago. AMD's own party sees this situation will continue until 2022.
“We remain on track to launch next-generation products in 2022, including our Zen 4 processor built with industry-leading 5nm process technology and our RDNA 3 GPU,” said Dr Lisa Su as quoted by Wccftech.
With the launch plan, AMD will have one Ryzen Desktop family next year, namely Zen 3 with 3D V-Chace and Zen 4 which uses the code name Raphael.
The plan, AMD will also add more cores than the current one with a maximum of 16 cores - 32 threads. In addition, the company will also increase the IPC by 25% in Zen 4. The clock is also reportedly going to be increased to 5GHz. In addition, AMD is also reportedly preparing a Radeon RX 7000 GPU which is rumored to be using an AMD chip with RDNA 3 support with a Navi 3x GPU. This is predicted to be a GPU with higher performance than the previous generation.
