Commemorating 75th Season, NBA Will Reveal 75 Greatest Players

JAKARTA - The NBA will announce its 75 greatest players at its 75th season commemoration in October as part of celebrations to pay homage to the league's history and achievements.

The "NBA 75" tribute includes the diamond-shaped NBA commemorative logo, which was released earlier this month, and a season-long event to celebrate the past, present and future of the world's most prestigious basketball league.

"The 2021-22 season will be really special as we celebrate 75 years of NBA basketball," said NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

"We look forward to honoring the players and teams, past and present, who have inspired generations of fans around the world."

The seventy-five NBA greatest players of all time will be selected by a panel of current and former players, coaches, managers, team executives and the media, and will be announced in October, the same month the season begins.

A new jersey design will also debut and the 2022 NBA All-Star Game will be held in Cleveland, the last to host the event in 1997 when the NBA celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The first NBA season began in 1946 and featured 11 clubs, three of which are still active -- the Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia Warriors, now the Golden State Warriors.
