Praveen / Melati Are Required To Win Olympic Gold Medals Such As Owi / Butet
JAKARTA - The Indonesian mixed doubles pair, Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti, received a bonus worth IDR 450 million from sponsors and their club, PB Djarum. This bonus is given as an appreciation after Praveen / Melati won the All England 2020 title some time ago.
According to the Program Director of the Djarum Foundation Sports Service, Yoppy Rosimin, Praveen / Melati have challenges to continue to excel. Of course, Praveen / Melati are expected to be as great as their seniors, Tontowi Ahmad / Liliyana Natsir.
After All England, Praveen / Melati is now challenged to become world champion and an Olympic gold medal. The Owi / Butet pair have won two achievements.
"This is a challenge that Praveen / Melati hope to answer. Hopefully they can continue the tradition of winning and gold medals in the Olympics," said Yoppy.
Praveen / Melati have a chance for that. Currently, the mixed doubles world number one has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics which will be held next year. The All England title certainly adds to their confidence to excel in Tokyo later.
Meanwhile, PBSI mixed doubles coach, Richard Mainaky, said the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics would not affect Praveen / Melati's performance. He emphasized that his team had prepared the players very well.
"Even though it has been postponed, I'm sure we will be better prepared and more complete later. So there is no problem,"

He also added that the training program had not changed even though many tournaments were postponed due to the COVID-19 event. The reason is, PBSI always implements a long-term training program on an ongoing basis.
"So it's used to it. However, because of this morning, the training program is a little disturbed, but it doesn't really matter," he said.
