Lots Of Sexual Content, Google Bans Sugar Dating Apps On Play Store
JAKARTA - The Google Play store prohibits the 'Sugar Dating' application from being marketed through its market platform starting September 1. The ban was announced through several changes that the search giant published on its support page. The ban will be part of the new restrictions on sexual content.
In addition, the Google Play Store also previewed app pool IDs, added new Family Policy requirements, and improved their Enforcement policies. All of these policies, such as Device and Network Abuse policies, permission policies, and more, will take effect from September 1st onwards.
The new policy change by Google was announced via a post on the Play Console support website. The post mentions a lot of policy changes, but one of the biggest changes is the ban on apps related to "compensated sexual intercourse" i.e., Sugar Dating.
Google has implemented a comprehensive ban on sexual content and updated its Inappropriate Content policy to update its ban on sexual content. Apparently, there are many apps like SDM, Spoil, Sugar Daddy, and Suger Daddy that can be found on the Google Play store.
Google also added new limitations in its Family Policy requirements on identifiers used in apps targeting children. They also mention that developers must comply with the policy changes by September 1st except for changes to advertising IDs.
There is also the addition of a new section to its Enforcement policy which will close inactive or abandoned developer accounts after they have been inactive for more than a year along with other factors.
Starting October 15, Google will redefine its Device and Network Abuse policy which will prohibit apps or SDKs with interpreted language as JavaScript from violating Google Play Store policies. In addition, there is also a new Permissions policy that requires developers to provide terms of use of the Accessibility API and IsAccessibilityTool.
Additionally, there will be a revised User Data policy to prohibit the linking of persistent device identifiers to personal and sensitive user data. This revision will take effect from 28 October. Google will add a new data privacy and security section to its User Data policy.
In addition to this new policy in the Google Play store, Google has also updated many of its policies, such as the Inappropriate Content policy. The Financial Services Policy will be updated on September 15, where it will "clarify the definition of total borrowing costs and require that all personal loan applications be properly marked under the Finance category. Google is also adding new requirements for personal loan applications in India and Indonesia."
Starting September 29, the Store Listing and Promotion policy, will be updated to ban spam text and images in titles, icons, and developer names for apps. Additionally, Google updated its Ads policy on October 4th, which will reflect usage changes to Android advertising IDs.
