Central Kalimantan BPBD Personnel Dies Of Fatigue Fighting Forest And Land Fires

BUNTOK - One of the personnel of the Regional Disaster Management Agency of South Barito Regency (Barsel), Central Kalimantan, Fahrul Fauzi (43) died. He was tired of fighting forest and land fires in Pamait Village, Dusun Selatan District.

Head of Emergency and Logistics Suwono said that his party received information that a forest and land fire occurred in Pamait village at around 12.00 WIB, Thursday, July 29.

"As soon as they received the information, as many as 35 personnel prepared equipment and immediately moved to Pamait Village by car," he said, quoted by Antara.

After that, BPBD members have to walk about 1.5 kilometers with very difficult terrain, because they have to walk on a lake whose water is receding, full of tall grass and muddy to get to the location of the forest and land fires. Due to the condition of the forest fires and the land is very large, more than 5 hectares, his party immediately conducts insulation.

Then after that retreat to post 1 about 200 meters from the fire point to rest for a while while being on guard and anticipating that the fire does not spread to residential areas.

"It was during this break that Fahrul Fauzi suddenly experienced tightness and pain in his chest, and seeing this condition, BPBD members immediately gave help," said Suwono.

Then Fahrul Fauzi, who was congested and in pain, was lifted using a stretcher made of improvised logs and cloth clothing for BPBD members to the ambulance with the very tough terrain. However, on the way he was taken by ambulance to the emergency room at the Jaraga Sasameh Buntok Hospital, Fahrul Fauzi died.

In addition, in carrying out their duties, whether carrying out fires or other disaster management, all BPBD members work professionally, including maintaining personal safety.

"Before carrying out our duties, we also don't forget to always give a warning to all members to prioritize personal safety, including using personal protective equipment," he said.

According to Suwono, the South Barito BPBD was devastated when he learned that one of its members had died in carrying out this noble task.

"Currently the victim has been taken to the funeral home, and the plan is to be buried on Friday (30/7) in Husnul Khatimah Raut Buntok," said Suwono.
