DENPASAR - The Denpasar City Government, Bali, has designed the re-activation of communal kitchens to improve food security by providing 1,000 packs of rice every day during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Laxmy Saraswati explained that the Denpasar City communal kitchen is located at Jaba Paon Jalan Kaliasem Denpasar. This activity is to assist in food security preparedness during the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be opened soon.
"The availability of food that is formed through public kitchens is of course in sufficient quantities with good quality and healthy (hygine), free from ingredients that are detrimental to health and can be accepted by all citizens," he said.
He said that in a day, the distribution was designed to be twice a day, namely in the morning at 11.00 WITA and in the afternoon at 16.00 WITA with an average of 1000 packs of rice per day.
Laxmy Saraswati emphasized that the target of this program is people who are in dire need, especially for those who have not received assistance from any funding sources at all.
In this target, he said, efforts are made for data from each sub-district area as well as input from community groups or other parties who know the existence of communities that need assistance, so that people who need to be distributed can know.
Laxmy Sarawati added that the Denpasar City communal kitchen program provides space for the community, community groups, individuals, organizations, private companies, banks, and BUMN or BUMD to contribute through donations as an application of the gotong royong pattern.
"People who need food assistance can inform one or two days in advance, either directly through the public kitchen, the Tagana of the Denpasar City Social Service and through the Cooperation Section of the Denpasar City Secretariat. Let's face the pandemic with heart," he said.
