Known As Rebel And Terrorist Cars, Toyota Bans Land Cruiser For Sale In Certain Regions

JAKARTA - The new Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the newest and hottest SUV models in the world. But Toyota is taking steps to keep it out of “hot zones” around the world.

The automaker required buyers in Japan to sign a pledge that they would not try to export the vehicles overseas, especially to conflict countries. It even continues to warn Toyota dealers against it.

Toyota issued a statement to local media raising concerns that this product could fall into the wrong hands. They don't care, even though they have to lose a huge potential income due to the ban.

"In addition, the Land Cruiser is very popular overseas, and we are concerned about the flow of vehicles from Japan to overseas soon after their release, as well as the possibility of them being exported to certain regions where safety regulations apply," Toyota said in a statement quoted by Motor 1.

The previous generation of the Land Cruiser and Toyota truck was a tool or equipment car in remote areas of the world. This is thanks to the legendary durability of this car. In fact, this car is often used by rebel forces and terrorists.

"Toyota Motor Corporation will continue to deliver good products through its dealers and distributors around the world while still complying with the laws and regulations of each country, and we ask for your understanding in this regard," the statement continued.

Along with resale restrictions, Toyota has also temporarily closed new orders and will halt production for two days in August due to an ongoing semiconductor shortage affecting the auto industry.

There are currently no plans to offer the redesigned Land Cruiser in the US, but a new Sequoia SUV which is expected to be built on the same platform will launch soon.
