Boy In North Sumatra Allegedly Given Expired Infusion, Police Investigate
MEDAN - Video footage that describes a child being given an expired IV in a hospital has gone viral on social media. The incident allegedly occurred at the Kota Pinang Hospital, South Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra.
In the video, you can see a small child with his hand infused and a health worker changing the IV.
At that time, the child's parents protested by the health workers because their child was given an expired infusion.
"In fact, I was given an expired child, who took care of last night?" said the woman in the recorded video, Thursday, July 29.
In the video narration, it is also explained that initially the child in the video was sick and then referred to the Kota Pinang Hospital. While waiting for the results of the swab, the girl was given an IV.
However, the family suspected that the infusion that was injected had expired. Because the information on the infusion bottle is explained to be expired in May 2021.
"Cruel, expired IV fluids were injected into his body. Great appreciation is expected for the authorities and authorities to investigate thoroughly," the video narration wrote.
For this alleged negligence, the family reported this incident to the Labuhanbatu Police Station with the report number LP/B/1432/VII/2021/SPKT/Labuhanbatu Police.
The report explains that the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 27 at 13:45 WIB. In addition, the report also attached evidence of an infusion bottle of the WIDA -1/2NS TM brand which still contained a white liquid that read Batch-260617 Exp date 05-2021 Mfg Date 16-06-16 HET Rp16,875.
The Head of the Labuhanbatu Police, AKBP Deni Kurniawan, confirmed the report. He said his team was still investigating the case.
"Yes, (still) an investigation," Deni told reporters, Thursday, July 29.
