East Java Police Deploy Cyber Team To Reveal Convalescent Plasma Fraud At East Java PMI
SURABAYA - The East Java Police have deployed a cyber team to arrest perpetrators of convalescent plasma fraud at the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in East Java. Information about the fraud was obtained by the police from the East Java PMI.
"We have deployed the Cyber Team to conduct patrols on social media (social media) to hunt down perpetrators of convalescent plasma fraud," said Director of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Jatim, Kombes Farman, confirmed, Thursday, July 29.
Farman explained, PMI East Java said there were convalescent plasma fraudsters, deceiving victims through social media. The perpetrators promise to provide convalescent blood to the customer, by redeeming money by transfer.
"So, for victims who want to get convalescent plasma, they must pay by transfer to the perpetrator's account," he said.
To make it easier to uncover this case, the officer with three golden jasmine invites the people who are victims to immediately report to the police. Farman advised the public not to believe easily if there were parties who helped donate convalescent plasma, but asked for a ransom of a fantastic amount.
"The public must be careful if a donor asks for a sum of money, and report it if they encounter this fraudulent mode," said Farman.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the East Java Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Edi Purwinarto, conveyed that he received information regarding the misuse of convalescent plasma from the public. "Lastly, there was information that it turned out to be a business event, this is what might deviate from the humanitarian mission, there is a fraud that has been transferred and then there are no donors," he said.
Regarding the convalescent plasma used in the business arena, Edi admitted that he had proven it. He himself recently received a short message via WhatsApp (WA) containing a brochure offering convalescent plasma. The price set is quite fantastic.
"I also read that there was an offer of Rp. 20 million per bag of PK (convalescent plasma), brochures were offered," he said.
