Examine Hengky Kurniawan, KPK Explores Planning For Procurement Of COVID-19 Social Assistance In West Bandung

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has finished examining the Acting Regent of West Bandung Hengky Kurniawan. During the examination, investigators studied a number of things, including planning and discussing the procurement of COVID-19 social assistance.

Hengky was examined as a witness for the inactive West Bandung Regent suspect Aa Umbara Sutisna. This examination relates to the alleged corruption case in the procurement of social assistance (bansos) COVID-19 at the West Bandung Regency Government in 2020.

"The person concerned was present and his knowledge was explored, among others, regarding the alleged planning and discussion with the suspect AUM (Aa Umbara Sutisna)," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Wednesday, July 28.

The examination of Hengky was carried out at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Tuesday, July 27 yesterday. Previously, West Bandung Acting Regent Hengky Kurniawan admitted that he was not involved in the COVID-19 Handling Task Force in West Bandung. This was conveyed after being examined for five hours by KPK investigators.

"I forgot how many questions I forgot regarding the division of tasks while in government with the Regent (Aa Umbara Sutisna), I answered normatively," said Hengky Kurniawan after being questioned, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 27.

"Then whether I am involved in the COVID-19 Task Force in West Bandung in 2020, I said I was not involved. It is more about how the division of tasks in the government is," he added.

In this case, the KPK has named three suspects in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of emergency goods for the COVID-19 pandemic at the West Bandung Regency Social Service, West Java in 2020.

The three suspects, namely the 2018-2023 West Bandung Regent Aa Umbara Sutisna (AUS), Andri Wibawa from the private sector who is also the son of Aa Umbara, and the owner of PT Jagat Dir Gantara (JDG) and CV Sentral Vegetable Garden City Lembang (SSGCL) M Totoh Gunawan (MTG).

Aa Umbara is suspected of having received Rp1 billion in cash. Meanwhile, the child who also received the procurement project received a profit of Rp. 2.7 billion and M. Totoh Gunawan received Rp. 2 billion.
