Patient Mortality Rate In Sorong Is High, But Not Reported To The COVID-19 Task Force
SORONG - The death rate of COVID-19 patients in the city of Sorong, West Papua Province, is quite high. Ironically, this death data is not reported in detail to the West Papua Task Force for input into national data.
Data on COVID-19 patients who died from July 15-25 2021 were 34 people. However, based on data compiled by Antara, it has not been reported to the West Papua Task Force for inclusion in the national data.
Data on the death of COVID-19 patients, namely July 15, 2021, as many as 3 people died. On July 16 as many as 3 people, July 17 as many as 2 people, July 18 as many as 2 people, July 19 as many as 1 person, and July 20 as many as 4 people.
Furthermore, on July 21, 2021 as many as 3 people died, July 22 as many as 2 people, July 23 as many as 4 people, July 24 as many as 4 people, and July 25 as many as 6 people.
Spokesman for the West Papua COVID-19 Task Force, doctor Arnold Tiniap, when confirmed in Manokwari, Tuesday, said that his party had not yet received reports of deaths from that many COVID-19 patients from Sorong City.
He said that the Sorong City Health Office should report the death data of COVID-19 patients in as much detail as possible according to the facts on the ground and not cover it up so that the public knows and is alert.
"Death data must be reported correctly in accordance with the facts so that the public is aware and alert and does not think that COVID-19 is a normal thing," he said.
In addition, he said, the data can also be used as a reference in making policies to handle COVID-19 in West Papua.
