Archery Wants To Increase Its Share At The 2020 Tokyo Olympics

JAKARTA - The Tokyo 2020 Olympics has been postponed until October 2021. This gives each participating country the opportunity to add additional time to their representatives in Tokyo.

The Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) is among those who wish to take advantage of this opportunity. With this long time available, Perpani hopes to increase the quota for athletes at the Tokyo Olympics.

Currently, Perpani has only pocketed two tickets for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The tickets are in the name of Diananda Choirunisa and Riau Ega Agatha. Both appear in individual numbers.

"We hope to get three tickets for the team recurve,"

Secretary General of PB Perpani, Nyak Amir

To achieve this goal, Perpani has rearranged the national training center (Pelatnas) program, which is currently suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Unfortunately, this new program cannot be run yet.

Perpani is still waiting for a decision from the government, in this case the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora). As is known, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has not issued a New Normal Order Sports Protocol.

The concept of the protocol is training concentration which includes virtual or isolated exercises with strict limitations. For this, Kemenpora will coordinate with the Coordinating Ministry for Human Empowerment and Culture, the Ministry of Health and the COVID-19 Task Force.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) is preparing a health protocol to be submitted as a recommendation to the government. However, KOI still asked for input from each sports to compile the protocol.
