Denies 20 Employees Died Due To COVID-19, Director Of Transjakarta: KSPI Data From Where?

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Transjakarta Sardjono Johny Tjitrokusumo denied that 20 of his employees were suspected of having died due to exposure to COVID-19. This allegation was made by the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI).

Based on records owned by the company, it did not find 20 people who died from COVID-19, but 14 people.

"Now it's like this, everyone who is exposed to the Covid-19 virus will have a risk of dying and we can't choose who will be exposed or not. But, if we look at the victims (died from COVID-19) in us, so far the number is 14 people. So if someone mentions more, where does that data come from?” said Jhony to reporters, Tuesday, July 27.

Jhony also denied KSPI's statement that his company did not comply with the regulations for the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) and Level 4 PPKM.

He said, Transjakarta is a company engaged in the transportation sector and is included in the critical sector. This means that they can continue to operate fully with strict health protocols.

Jhony emphasized that Transjakarta always operates with reference to every existing policy. One of them was when implementing PPKM in Java and Bali, only 25 percent of employees worked in the office and 75 percent worked from home or work from home (WFH).

Then to reduce the risk amidst the increasing number of virus transmission, Transjakarta again made a policy in which only 10 percent of its employees work from the office, and the rest work from home.

"We have carried out all procedures properly according to applicable regulations. So if there are parties who want to conduct inspections, they are very welcome. Transjakarta always opens its doors as wide as possible so that no more news comes out that is not in accordance with the facts," explained Jhony.

Previously, the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) asked DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to inspect the PT Transjakarta office. This is because these regionally owned enterprises (BUMD) are considered not to carry out the rules contained in PPKM Level 4.

KSPI President Said Iqbal said the results of a survey conducted by KSPI to workers or workers of PT Transjakarta stated that workers or laborers were still working 100 percent. In fact, many workers or laborers have died from exposure to COVID-19 while working.

"We have data directly from Transjakarta employees. What is this with the Governor of DKI Jakarta. At his house alone, Transjakarta, under the BUMD of the DKI Jakarta Regional Government, 20 laborers have died, Mr. Governor and hundreds of people have contracted COVID-19," he said at a press conference in private. virtual, Monday, July 26.

Said Iqbal asked Anies to conduct an inspection of PT Transjakarta, which is a state-owned company. Moreover, the transmission rate of COVID-19 in the company is already more than 10 percent.

"No one is working on 50 percent WFH, 50 percent WFO. Don't check it. To other companies, they don't check at home. This is data," he said.
