Good News From The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources, The Gresik - Semarang Gas Pipeline Is Ready To Operate
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ensures that the Gresik to Semarang (Gresem) transmission gas pipeline is now ready to operate to meet the needs of the community, from households, industries, to power plants.
"With the operation of the Gresem transmission pipeline along with the onstream Kepodang and Jambaran Tiung Biru gas fields, it is ready to be channeled and used by consumers in the East Java and Central Java regions," said Director of Downstream Oil and Gas Business Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Soerjaningsih in a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. quoted in Jakarta, Tuesday 27 July.
Soerjaningsih said that the government continues to encourage an increase in the allocation of natural gas for domestic needs through setting affordable natural gas prices.
In the national energy mix, natural gas utilization is targeted at 22 percent by 2025. Then, that composition will increase to 24 percent by 2050.
The Gresem pipe has a diameter of 28 inches with a design capacity of 330 MMSCFD of gas. The pipeline stretches for 275 kilometers and costs around US$276 million to build.
He added that PT Pertamina Gas is currently completing the construction of a pipeline from Tambak Rejo to Tambak Lorok to connect the Gresem transmission pipeline with the Kalija transmission pipeline phase I operated by PT Kalimantan Jawa Gas.
The project, which connects the Gresem pipeline from the Gresik gas station to the Tambak Lorok gas station, is expected to be a driver of industrial growth in Central and East Java. "In addition to industries that use natural gas as raw material and power plants, the need for a natural gas network for households in Lamongan and Bojonegoro can immediately use natural gas as a fuel with lower emissions," said Soerjaningsih.
In addition to the needs of the Lamongan and Bojonegoro gas networks in East Java, the Gresem pipeline will also be one of the connecting infrastructures for commissioning the maintenance and production facilities of the Jambaran Tiung Biru field.
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara will supply gas from the Kepodang gas field which flows through the Kepodang-Tambak Lorok natural gas pipeline and enters the Gresik-Semarang gas pipeline.
The utilization of the Gresem gas pipeline, which the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources strives for, is expected to provide energy that is more economical and environmentally friendly, so that it can improve the regional economy and strengthen national energy security.
