Worried About COVID-19, Participation Of Residents Of Boven Digoel Papua In The Rematch Of Regional Elections Is Only 56.06 Percent
ACEH - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Papua Province stated that voter participation in the Boven Digoel Regency Re-voting (PSU) only reached 56.06 percent.
Papua Province KPU Chair Diana Simbiak said the low voter turnout at the Boven Digoel PSU was due to COVID-19. People are reluctant to go to polling stations because they are worried about being exposed to this dangerous virus.
"Meanwhile, the PSU of Boven Digoel Regency is held according to the stages with the voting schedule for July 17, 2021, including the final results," he said in a press release in Jayapura, quoted from Antara, Monday, July 26.
According to Diana, the KPU has given five days to candidate pairs who are dissatisfied with the results of the recapitulation to file a lawsuit against the election results to the Constitutional Court.
"Meanwhile, the number of DPT Boven Digoel Regency did not change, namely 36,882 voters divided into 20 districts," he also said.
Pair number one, Hengky Yaluwo-Lexi Romel Wagiu won the most votes during the final plenary recapitulation of the Boven Digoel District Voting (PSU) on July 24, 2021.
The Hengky-Lexi pair won 10,835 votes, followed by candidate pair number three Marthinus Wagi-Isak Bangri with 8,863 votes, and candidate pair number two Chaerul Anwar-Nathalis B Kaket with 1,236 votes.
The Boven Digoel Pilkada experienced several problems, so the Constitutional Court (MK) disqualified the Candidate Pair for Regent and Deputy Regent of Boven Digoel Yusak Yaluwo-Yakobus Waremba, then ordered the Papua KPU to conduct a re-vote (PSU).
