The Popular Help On Netflix, Bryce Dallas Howard Instead Suggests Watching Another Movie

JAKARTA - The film The Help has become one of the most watched films on the Netflix streaming service in recent weeks. But different responses were shared by the players, one of whom was Bryce Dallas Howard.

The Help is a 2011 film that tells three stories that connect black and white people. Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis) and Minny Jackson (Octavia Spencer) are African-American helpers who raise children from white families.

Eugenia Phelan or Skeeter (Emma Stone) is a white woman who returns home to find her missing housemaid.

Having received a positive response, when The Help became the most watched film on the Netflix streaming service, it reacted the opposite. This Tate Taylor-directed film is thought to make the narrative of the white person a savior.

Bryce Dallas Howard, who played Hilly Holbrook, the evil, racist character in the film wrote on her Instagram page. "I am grateful for the wonderful friendships that come from film - a relationship I cherish and last a lifetime," wrote the Rocketman film player.

However, Howard advises film-goers to watch films or other documentaries that can fairly portray the story of black people. The films are: 13th, Eyes on the Prize, I am Not Your Negro, Just Mercy, Malcom X, Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland, Selma, Watchmen, and the series When They See Us.

Howard suggests films that portray racial justice in an educational way rather than watching The Help. "Stories are a gateway to empathy in a radical way and are at best a catalyst for action," said Bryce Dallas Howard.

Howard also shared a petition about Black Lives Matter and a number of donation sites that can be donated by the community.
