Vice President Maruf Amin's Message: Press Work Must Go Amid The COVID-19 Pandemic
JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said press work must continue in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing strict health protocols. " said Vice President Ma'ruf at the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Bermunajat Knocking on Heaven's door virtually, reported by Antara, Saturday, July 24. During the COVID-19 pandemic, said the Vice President, most human activities, from worship to work, were carried out virtually to avoid crowds which had an impact on increasing the transmission of COVID-19. However, the Vice President continued, there are some activities and jobs that cannot be completely done virtually, including press work."The way we work and learn is changing, migrating, transforming, and transforming movement in digital spaces. However, some essential work has not been fully carried out remotely, including press, journalism and media work," explained the Vice President.
To support the performance of the press in the midst of a pandemic, the Vice President said the government encouraged all media workers in Indonesia to participate in the vaccination program. "The government always encourages fellow press and media people to continue to increase their participation in this national vaccination program," he said. In July 2021, the Vice President said there were 22,700 media workers who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 14,385 of them had received the second dose. With the participation of media workers in the COVID-19 vaccination, the Vice President hopes that the target for communal immunity or herd immunity in Indonesia can be established soon. "Of course we hope that the national vaccination program can immediately reach the target of establishing herd immunity and successfully providing vaccinations for at least 70 percent of the total population of Indonesian people," said the Vice President.
