Garut Regency Government Distributes IDR 250 Thousand For Street Workers

GARUT - The Government of Garut Regency, West Java distributed social assistance in the amount of IDR 250 thousand for all street workers affected by PPKM.

"This assistance is only a stimulant during the extension period (PPKM), so we give IDR 250,000 per person once," said Garut Regency Regional Secretary Nurdin Yana at the launch of the social assistance program for those affected by the PPKM extension at the Garut BPR Bank office page, quoted by Antara. , Friday, July 23.

The Garut Regency Government helps several professions affected by the PPKM extension, namely street workers such as rickshaw pullers, wagon coachmen, city transportation drivers, street vendors, and some artists.

The financial assistance provided by the government through banks is a form of government attention and alignment with the underprivileged.

"We side with the community as instructed by the Minister of Home Affairs as stated in the Minister of Home Affairs 22 of 2021," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Garut Regency Social Service, Ade Hendarsyah added, the Garut Regency Government prepared a budget of Rp. 1.5 billion to distribute social assistance to workers on the streets, which amounted to 5,845 people.

He said that the beneficiaries of the cash assistance were 2,226 street vendors, 461 pedicab drivers, 528 wagon coachmen, 1,524 public transport drivers, and 1,076 artists.

The government divides the location of the distribution of funds in several places, for street vendors can be taken for assistance at the BPR Garut office, artists at the Garut Disparbud office, rickshaw pullers and wagon coaches at the Garut Transportation Department office, and public transportation drivers at the Garut Organda office.

In addition, the Garut Regency Government will also distribute IDR 250 thousand for hotel and restaurant workers in Garut Regency, which amounts to about five thousand people.

"That's right, later the plan will be distributed to PHRI, not for the hotel owner but for his employees," said Ade.
