Governor Of South Sulawesi Inactive Nurdin Abdullah Charged With Accepting Bribes And Gratifications
JAKARTA - The inactive Governor of South Sulawesi, Nurdin Abdullah, was charged with accepting bribes in the amount of Rp. 2.5 billion and S$150 thousand related to project work in the South Sulawesi Provincial Government.
In the indictment, the prosecutor explained that the receipt was carried out directly or through the Secretary of the South Sulawesi Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUTR) Office, Edy Rahmat, in February 2021.
The money came from one of the contractors, namely the owner of PT Agung Perdana Bulukumba and PT Cahaya Sepang Bulukumba, Agung Sucipto.
"To commit or participate in carrying out several actions that are related in such a way that it is seen as a continuing act in the form of receiving gifts or promises," was quoted from the indictment of the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) which was read out at the Makassar Corruption Court (Tipikor), South Sulawesi, Thursday, July 22.
The prosecutor said the bribe was given so that Nurdin won the company owned by Agung in the bidding process for a work project at the PUTR Office of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government and to approve the South Sulawesi Province financial assistance for the Water Resources Infrastructure Development project of the PUPR Office of the Sinjai Regency in 2021.
"So that it can be done by a company owned by Agung Sucipto and Harry Syamsuddin," said the prosecutor.
Nurdin was also charged with accepting gratuities in the form of money worth Rp. 6,587,600,000 and S$200,000 given by a number of contractors, namely Robert Wijoyo, Nurwadi Bin Pakki, Ferry Tanriady, Haeruddin, Petrus Yalim, and others.
The granting of this gratuity took place from mid-2020 to February 2021.
"Having committed several acts that should be considered as an independent act, so it is a crime to receive gratification," said the prosecutor.
For accepting bribes, Nurdin was charged with Article 12 letter a of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) The 1st Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
As for gratification, he was charged with Article 11 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1 ) 1st Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
