Winning 2-1 In PSG Vs Augsburg, Pochettino: There's Still A Lot Of Homework

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain came home with a narrow 2-1 win in their pre-season friendly against Bundesliga side FC Augsburg.

As in PSG's previous two pre-season games, manager Mauricio Pochettino only featured some of his regular first-team talents in this fixture. However, it was enough for PSG to win.

Overall, Pochettino still sees that there is a lot of work to be done ahead of the new Ligue 1 season.

The Argentinean manager further spoke to PSG TV about his team's hard work so far in pre-season.

"I am very happy with the way we are working, the goal is not only the result, but also the preparation," said Pochettino, quoted by psgtalk.com, Thursday. "It's always better when you win because we love competition. But I'm also happy with the involvement of the players."

"Of course, we still have a lot of homework to do because it's just the start of the season and there's still a lot to improve."

Poachettino then gave a special note. For young players, he stressed it was very important to have experience against a Bundesliga side like Augsburg. Because, it allows them to learn.

As for older players, continued the coach, it is also very important to improve performance.

PSG still have two friendlies before facing reigning Ligue 1 champions Lille OSC in the 2021 Trophee des Champions final. The French giants will face Serie A side Genoa and La Liga side Sevilla next week.

For now, PSG's coaching staff are expected to schedule a major training session ahead of the upcoming clash against Genoa.
