Police Name 17 Suspects In Brawl At Setiabudi Mangosteen Market, 4 People Are Fugitives
JAKARTA - The police are 17 suspects in connection with a brawl between youth groups in the Citizens Association (RW)11 and RW02 of Manggis Market, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.
South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Azis Adrianysah said of the 17 suspects, four of them have not been found and have been designated as a wanted list (DPO).
"Of the 15 people, 13 have been named suspects, two are still being investigated. Then there are four other suspects who are currently being pursued, and have been designated as DPOs," said Kombes Azis, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 21.
Azis said the suspects were local residents. However, brawls are not related to conflicts between local areas.
"At the location we secured 15 youths. Indeed these people live in the area but this incident was not on behalf of the area," he said.
The police chief said the police confiscated several pieces of evidence allegedly used by the suspect at the time of the incident.
"We confiscated sharp weapons, Molotov cocktails, broken bottles and some stones. These were all found at the location shortly after the incident," said Azis.
Azis hopes that similar incidents will not happen again and the situation at the location is under control. He stressed that he would take action against groups that escalated the situation.
Meanwhile, Setiabudi Metro Police Chief Kompol Rinaldo Aser said the conditions at the scene were conducive.
"Last night there was an agreement between leaders from the two RWs to maintain mutual security in the area of the incident," said Rinaldo Aser.
The suspects were charged with Article 170 regarding beatings, Article 406 regarding vandalism, and Article 38 of the Criminal Code related to brawls.
