There Is A Demonstration Against PPKM In Bandung, Spokesman Luhut Says PPKM Relaxation On July 26 Is Threatened With Cancellation

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Jodi Mahardi regretted the demonstration against the extension of the emergency PPKM or PPKM Level 4 in Bandung and Ambon.

Jodi said the demonstrations that led to crowds could increase the risk of an increase in COVID-19 cases. In fact, Jodi said this action could result in the government canceling the PPKM relaxation plan on 26 July.

This is because the government plans to relax restrictions in PPKM only if the rate of transmission of the corona virus has decreased.

"It is very unfortunate that there were large crowds in Bandung and Ambon. In the end, many people will lose money, because the act of violating the health protocol guidelines and neglecting to delay the relaxation efforts that are planned to be carried out on 26 July. people will bear the risk," Jodi said in a virtual press conference, Wednesday, July 21.

Jodi said that the local government had actually opened various ways to absorb people's aspirations, such as opening a dialogue without causing crowds.

Moreover, currently in Indonesia, more than 600 cases have been detected with the Delta variant, which spreads faster than the previous variant.

"Let's not take the heaviest risk if there is a safer way. This action is very unfortunate because it will increase the risk of transmission of this Delta variant of COVID-19," he said.
