Celebrating The 18th Olympics Appearance, Singapore Launches Special Postage Stamp

JAKARTA - Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) will launch a stamp with a special design, featuring illustrations of several sports that the Singapore contingent will participate in at the Tokyo Olympics, such as swimming, shooting, sailing, diving, badminton, and table tennis.

As reported by Antara from the official SingPost website, Wednesday, July 21, the stamps will be launched on Friday to celebrate the opening of the world's largest sports event.

The Tokyo Olympics-themed stamps will be available at all post offices, philately shops, and the SingPost website at prices ranging from 30 cents to USD 1.40 US dollars.

Singapore will appear in the Olympics for the 18th time since its debut in 1948. At the Tokyo Olympics, the Lion Land will field 23 athletes from 11 sports.

At the previous Olympics in Rio de Janeiro 2016, Singapore made history by winning its first gold in swimming through Joseph Schooling in the men's 100m butterfly.

In addition to gold, overall Singapore has also collected two silver and two bronze.

Two silvers were won at the 1960 Rome Olympics through Tan Howe Liang in the 67.5 kg weightlifting event and the women's team table tennis through Feng Tianwei, Li Jiawei, Wang Yuegu at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The bronze was won at the 2012 London Olympics through table tennis for the women's singles and women's teams.
