Anwar Abbas Supports Jokowi To Extend Emergency PPKM, Asks For Social Assistance To Be Immediately Distributed To The Community
JAKARTA - Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Anwar Abbas supports the extension of the policy on the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) which was conveyed by President Joko Widodo if the goal is for the common good.
"The duty of the state and government based on the constitution is to protect the people, including from the dangers of COVID-19 and to prosper them. If the government thinks that PPKM should be continued, please continue," said Anwar Abbas in a written statement in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, Wednesday. July 21.
Previously, President Jokowi announced to continue PPKM until July 25 and will open it gradually starting July 26, 2021.
According to President Jokowi, PPKM is implemented to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and reduce the public's need for treatment in hospitals.
Abbas said that if the government has decided to extend and ask to reduce mobility, the community must be given assistance as soon as possible so that their needs are met.
"The government must help the people's economy with BLT as soon as possible and sufficiently so that they can meet their daily needs," he said.
If cases have decreased and the government will relax the PPKM policy, the community is asked to continue to strengthen the application of health protocols.
Because the easiest and cheapest way to avoid the risk of transmission is to avoid crowds, reduce mobility, wear masks, and wash hands regularly.
"But, if the government will not continue or will loosen PPKM, the community is really asked and demanded to respect the existing health protocols," he said.
He urged the security forces to go to markets, stations, and other places that would invite crowds to educate and warn if violations were found.
"This is to regulate and discipline the community so as not to violate the prokes, the presence of the apparatus is clearly very necessary," he said.
