Instagram Will Give Users Control In Explore Tab With This New Feature

JAKARTA - The Instagram photo and video sharing application has launched a new feature that users have been waiting for, namely Sensitive Content Control. This feature will later give users control over how much sensitive content they will see in the Explore tab.

As previously reported, the Explore tab displays photos, locations, and popular searches based on user interests and allows them to choose from categories such as culinary, art, fashion, travel and more.

Now, a new feature, called Sensitive Content Control, will allow users to decide whether they want to see more or less of certain types of sensitive content that don't necessarily violate Instagram's rules, such as posts that may be sexually suggestive or violence.

"We recognize that everyone has different preferences for what they want to see in Explore, and this control will give people more choices about what they see," Instagram said on its official blog.

Instagram, like other social media platforms, has long struggled with keeping tabs on problematic or harmful content on its platform.

The app has made other changes for users to shape their experience, including adding new tools for people to mute comments or restrict people from interacting with them.

The Facebook-owned social media platform has invested billions of dollars to bring content creators on their platform, while pushing to allow safe content on their platform as competition between social media heats up.

How to Use This Feature

You just need to open the Settings app, then tap Account and Control Sensitive Content. Then, you can reduce the number of sensitive posts in the Explore feed by selecting "Limit More" or you can also turn off the filter by changing from the default "Limit" option to "Allow".

Note that this option will not be available to users under 18 years of age. You can change these settings at any time.
