MUI Advises Eid Prayers At Home Because DKI Jakarta COVID-19 Worries
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of DKI Jakarta Province recommends that Muslims carry out the Eid prayer 1442 Hijri (2021 AD) at home during emergency PPKM. The reason is that the COVID-19 situation in DKI is worrying.
"In conditions that worry about the current spread of the corona virus, let's always maintain health protocols. Follow the rules and regulations that have been set by the government," said DKI Jakarta MUI Chair KH Munahar Muhtar as quoted by Antara, Monday, July 19.
The DKI Jakarta MUI has also issued an E-Book Guide to Eid Prayers 1442 Hijriah at home according to the call of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 11 of 2021 and the Circular Letter of the Minister of Religion Number 17 of 2021.
In the guide, there are five activities that are good to carry out before the Eid al-Adha prayer, namely:
1. Take a shower before prayer
2. Wear the best and clean clothes
3. Using perfume
4. Not eating and drinking before prayer (fasting)
5. Takbiran before prayer
Meanwhile, the North Jakarta City Council of Indonesian Mosques also called for the management of the Mosque Prosperity Council to hold Eid prayers at home on Eid al-Adha 1442 Hijriah on Tuesday, July 20.
The call for the cancellation of the Eid prayer 1442 Hijri in congregation continues to be informed to every Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM) in North Jakarta.
"We have conveyed all of that to DKM friends. We have a WhatsApp (WA) group containing North Jakarta DKM (managers)," said North Jakarta Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) Chairman Suwardi, Monday, July 19.
Suwardi said the call for Eid prayers at home was to prevent crowds that could have an impact on the return of the COVID-19 spike.
Congregational Eid prayers can still be held from home with family. Of course, the whole series of activities still implement strict health protocols.
