Affected By Emergency PPKM, Coffee Traders Take Action And Pick Up Customers To Medan City Hall
MEDAN - Dozens of coffee traders in the city of Medan held a demonstration. They did a long march while selling coffee from Merdeka Square to Bobby Nasution's office.
Traders were also seen carrying posters. They complained that they had no income as long as the Emergency PPKM was implemented in Medan.
They also brought coffee from their wares to sell to passersby on foot.
A participant in the action, Rasyid, said that his party took to the streets to sell their wares to the public by offering them an income.
"We're just here to sell, we want to pick up the ball (pick up customers)," he said, Monday, July 19.
He said that until now, traders have complained about the decline in turnover of up to 80 percent. He hopes that the government will provide solutions to traders, especially MSMEs who are affected by the Emergency PPKM.
"There are some employees that we have to lay off because the shops also have to close. We want a solution from the government, especially the mayor and DPRD, especially for MSME traders," he hoped.
Therefore, he emphasized that his party will continue to carry out this action so that their aspirations are heard by the government.
"If you (the mayor) want Medan as a Coffee City, this is your community, please listen to us," said Rasyid.
