Update On COVID-19 As Of June 4: 19 Regions With The Minimum Of New Cases, South Kalimantan The Highest

JAKARTA - The government spokesman for handling COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto, explained that there were 585 new positive cases on Thursday, June 4. So that the total number of positive patients reached 28,818 people.

Meanwhile, people who recovered also experienced an increase. 486 people were recorded as recovered or negative from COVID-19. So that the total number of patients who recovered was 8,892 people.

Meanwhile, cases of death fell when compared to before. A total of 23 people were declared dead due to contracting COVID-19 with a total of 1,721 people.

Then, for people under monitoring (ODP) the number reached 47,373 people. Meanwhile, for patients under surveillance (PDP) it reached 13,416 people.

"Today we have examined 13,206 specimens. So, the total is now 367,640 specimens, both the ones we checked with real time PCR and the molecular rapid test method," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, Jakarta, Thursday, June 4.

Referring to data from the task force, the number of positive cases in several regions is minimal. About 19 regions from all over Indonesia only experienced an increase in under 10 positive cases.

Some of these areas include Banten, Bangka Belitung, and the Riau Islands. Meanwhile, the rest of the provinces where the addition of positive cases were only 1 to 9 patients.

"19 provinces reported an increase of below ten, between 9 (positive cases, red) in West Java and 18 recovered. Then in East Kalimantan there were 6 positive cases reported today, 7 recovered," said Yuri.

Then, from the same data, there were recorded areas without the addition of positive cases. Namely, East Nusa Tenggara, West Sulawesi, Maluku and Central Sulawesi.

"West Kalimantan has no additional cases but there are 15 who have recovered. Then North Kalimantan has no additional cases but there are 8 who have recovered and some provinces have no cases reported positive today," said Yuri.

Meanwhile, the area that has experienced a sharp increase is South Kalimantan. Today, there are an additional 109 cases. So that South Kalimantan is arguably the number of cases is quite high.

Based on the search results, the increase in positive cases was due to contacts in two markets in the area. It is also said to have happened during the last kick. In fact, it is exacerbated by the absence of cured cases.

"From the epidemiological investigation carried out from the tracing, this is the close contact in the two markets that occurred in the past week," said Yuri.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta province which contributed to the number of positive cases was 94 people. East Java is also the region with the most positive cases with 90 people testing positive for COVID-19. However, there were far more cases of recovery.

"DKI Jakarta has 94 cases (positive) and today 21 were reported to have recovered. East Java has increased by 90 people if we compare it to yesterday, it actually has decreased but significantly 290 patients have recovered for East Java," said Yuri.
