Indonesian Navy Ships Deployed For Fisherman Vaccination Services
MAKASSAR - The Indonesian Navy deployed two ships to provide free COVID-19 vaccination services for fishermen and residents of coastal areas in the waters of Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The Langkai Island II-6-63 and KAL Pintar II-6-57 Navy ships were modified into marine ambulances to provide vaccination services in the Indonesian Navy's COVID-19 Vaccination Assault Program targeting the maritime community.
On Friday, July 16, 33 fishing boats docked with two Indonesian Navy warships that had anchored in Makassar waters. Users undergo COVID-19 vaccination at the service facilities provided on both ships.
The vaccination service on the ship was carried out after the Navy held a COVID-19 vaccination service on islands in the Makassar City area.
The Commander of the VI Makassar Naval Main Base, First Admiral Benny Sukandari while reviewing the vaccination service at KAL Langkai Island, said that the Navy's vaccination service had reached 15,727 residents in coastal areas and now its coverage was expanded.
According to him, the vaccination service for the VI Makassar Naval Main Base is intended for fishermen, marine village residents, residents around the port area, port workers, traders and fish market visitors, as well as users of sea transportation.
"Alhamdulillah, the fishing communities of Makassar City are very enthusiastic about participating in the free vaccination service held by the Indonesian Navy," he said as quoted by Antara.
