There's A Pregnant Man Icon In Emoji 14.0 List, Here's The Explanation!
JAKARTA - Several lists of emoji designs for the next generation have just been announced. This is done in preparation for the celebration of World Emoji Day on July 17. Interestingly, in the list of Emoji 14.0 designs, there are pictures of pregnant men with various skin tones. So what does this emoji mean?
"Pregnant Men and Pregnant People are still new, and realize that pregnancy is possible in some transgender men and non-binary people. This is in addition to the existing Pregnant Woman emoji," Emojipedia wrote on its official blog quoted from Yahoo News, Friday, 16 July.
Not only the pregnant man emoji, there are also two fingers (thumb and index) crossed in the shape of a heart, which people usually use to seduce. Other new emojis also include a melting smiley face, a low battery condition, a disco ball, and a pointing index finger.
There are several emojis that carry the spirit of continued racial expansion and gender inclusivity. It's like, a handshake emoji between different skin tones. Also, there is an emoji that shows a person with a crown as a prince and princess emoji in different skin tones.
No less interesting than the emoji range above, there is also an X-ray skull emoji that might be used to express scary things. Online media The Verge is also rumored to have contributed to making the emojis included in the draft list, one of which is the face emoji making a respectful gesture.
However, this draft list is not yet the final version of Emoji 14.0. The release of Emoji 14.0 was delayed this year due to the pandemic. The list of designs that have been announced will also not be released by the Unicode Consortium until next September.
"In recent years, the majority of potential emoji drafts have ended up on the final list. This list, in particular, has been in the works for a longer period of time, after Unicode 14.0 was postponed due to COVID-19," Emojipedia said.
Although Emoji 14.0 will not be released until September, in general most of the emojis featured in the draft list made it through. Then for the final version of Emoji 14.0, it will only be launched to various devices and platforms from the end of 2021 to 2022.
Google Pixel devices will be the first to receive Emoji 14.0 support from October to December this year. For Apple, Samsung, Twitter, and Facebook will follow next year.
