Waiting For The Bright Point Of The Novel Case From The Summons Of The National Police Chief Idham Aziz To The Palace

JAKARTA - The plan is for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to summon the National Police Chief, General Idham Azis this afternoon. The summons was intended to inquire about the progress of the investigation into the attack on Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan.

"There is no definite information. The name of the Chief of Police is called by the President, which is a normal thing. We do not know exactly what (later) will be discussed," said Karo Penmas DivHumas Polri Brigadier General Argo Yuwono to reporters, Monday, December 9.

In the Novel Baswedan case, the National Police formed a joint team in early 2019, but the team failed to reveal the perpetrators of Novel's attack. On the recommendation of the joint team, the National Police again formed a technical team for the Novel Baswedan case.

This team is directly under Kabareskrim. When it was first formed, this team was chaired by Kabareskrim Idham Azis. Until he was appointed as the National Police Chief, Idham Azis failed to reveal the perpetrators of Novel's attack. The head of the technical team is now in the hands of the new Kabareskrim, Listyo Sigit.

President Joko Widodo gave the technical team a deadline until December 2019 for the technical team to resolve this case. Until now, the technical team has not announced the results of the investigation.

"The name of an investigation depends on the evidence, for example there are many cases that have not been revealed until now, but of course the investigator continues to carry out activities to seek good through science, starting from inductive to deductive. We are still working to disclose," said Argo.

Previously, the deputy chairman of the KPK, Saut Sitomorang, still had high hopes that the National Police could solve the Novel case. He said that the public and the KPK will continue to follow the developments of cases that have been in the spotlight for the past few years.

"We are still waiting for (the Novel Baswedan case report) yesterday. I also explained, whatever the results must be reported. Certainly (conveyed to the public) because if a public investigation has to know and because the KPK is in the team that follows the progress," said Saut.
