PKS Politician: As Long As Foreigners Or Foreign Workers Enter Our Country, The Possibility Of Transmission Of The New Variant Virus Remains High

JAKARTA - The Emergency PPKM policy for the Java-Bali region and expansion to 15 regions outside Java-Bali is considered ineffective. The reason is, it has been a week since the Emergency PPKM, the daily number of COVID-19 cases has actually increased. Member of Commission IX DPR RI Kurniasih Mufidayati urges the government to be firm by immediately closing entry access for foreign workers and foreigners as long as the Emergency PPKM is in effect. This is because the emergence of new variants of the virus and the spike in COVID-19 began with the import of cases from foreigners and foreign workers who came from abroad.

"This is the harsh reality in PPKM. As long as the policy of allowing foreigners or foreign workers to enter our country, the possibility of transmission will also remain high," said Mufida, Friday, July 16.

Mufida reminded the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Manpower that one of the current concerns is the entry of new, more virulent variants. In fact, after the Delta variant made Indonesia helter-skelter, Kappa and Lambda appeared.

On the one hand, he said, Indonesia was still unable to cope with the Delta variant from India. If there are no restrictions on foreigners and foreign workers, Mufida assesses, it will increase the possibility of spreading other, more dangerous variants. Therefore, the PKS politician asked the government to pay attention to interests that are bigger than the interests of bringing in foreign workers and foreigners at this time.
