Wali Kota Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka Positif COVID-19

JAKARTA - Mayor of Solo, Central Java, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, announced that he was positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a swab test at the Bung Karno Hospital (RSBK) some time ago.

"The results of my PCR test came out on Monday, July 12 morning, I am currently undergoing self-isolation," said Gibran in Solo, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, July 14.

Before being exposed, he said he often visited a number of locations prone to exposure, including hospitals, isolation sites, and vaccination sites. Before finally doing the swab test, he had done an antigen swab test but the results were negative.

"But I 'don't' believe it, then I asked for a PCR test and the result was positive," said the son of President Joko Widodo.

However, the father of two admitted that he was in good health and did not feel any symptoms, so it was enough to undergo self-isolation.

"When I found out I was positive, I immediately separated myself. Thank God my children, wife, aide, and driver were all negative," he said.

Meanwhile, he made sure to keep working through the online system.

He has also coordinated with the Deputy Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa and Regional Secretary Ahyani to be more active in going to vulnerable locations to ensure the handling of COVID-19 goes well.

"I also asked the aide to keep playing around Solo to distribute basic necessities to people in need," said Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
