The Fate Of The Continuation Of The Indonesian League Is Determined Tonight
JAKARTA - PSSI held a virtual meeting with PT LIB with the League 1 and 2 2020 clubs on Tuesday, June 2 to discuss the continuation of the competition. At this meeting, PSSI through the General Chair, Mochamad Iriawan, gave options related to the continuation of the 2020 competition.
At the meeting with all League 1 and 2 clubs, PSSI was represented by the General Chairperson Mochamad Iriawan, Deputy Chairman Iwan Budianto, members of the Executive Committee Yoyok Sukawi and Endri Erawan, Acting Secretary General Yunus Nusi, Deputy Secretary General Maaike Ira Puspita, Special Staff of Leo Siegers, Technical Director Indra Sjafri and Doctor Syarif Alwi. Meanwhile, PT LIB was represented by Operational Director Sudjarno, Business Director Rudy Kangdra, and Finance Director Anthony Kartawiria.
"Today PSSI provides options to League 1 and 2 clubs regarding the continuation of the competition. So the decision remains at the Executive Committee meeting. Like League 1 starting in September or October, after that regarding the nominal additional subsidy, and matches played in Java, the concept is degradation and promotion, "said PSSI Acting Secretary General, Yunus Nusi, launching PSSI's official website, Wednesday.
Yunus added, the competition option was continued to see a bigger interest, namely the Indonesian national team which will compete in the upcoming 2021 U-20 World Cup. Moreover, this prestigious event took place in Indonesia.
"For League 2, PSSI offers a home tournament option, the format system is divided into four groups with each group of six teams. Starting around October. So the options for the League 1 and 2 competition status are advanced competitions. The competition will be run with strict health protocols. "Earlier, doctor Syarif Alwi also gave exposure to the entire club," he added.
PSSI will also prepare a legal umbrella related to contracts for players and coaches. For this reason, PSSI also held discussions with APPI (Association of Indonesian Professional Footballers (APPI) and the Association of Indonesian Football Coaches (APSSI) after the virtual meeting.
Currently PSSI also continues to communicate with the government, in this case the Menpora. In addition, PSSI also coordinates with relevant stakeholders such as the Covid-19 Task Force, the Ministry of Health, the Indonesian National Police and others.
Meanwhile, PT Persib Bandung with dignity (PBB) Teddy Tjahjono said that his team fully supports PSSI's decision if the competition continues.
"The competition will also be of greater interest, namely the national team which will compete in the 2021 U-20 World Cup where Indonesia will host. However, the competition will have to take place with strict protocols for the safety of everyone," said Teddy.
The PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) Meeting to produce the final decision regarding the continuation of the Indonesian League 1 and 2 for the 2020 season is scheduled to take place this Wednesday evening.
The meeting which takes place virtually will again be attended by all members of the Exco PSSI, including the Chairman of PSSI Mochamad Iriawan.
