Head Of Betawi Community Consultative Body, Supports Metro Jaya Police To Dismantle Drug Hoarding Network
JAKARTA - The Betawi Community Consultative Body (Bamus Betawi) supports the efforts of the Metro Jaya Police to dismantle the COVID-19 drug hoarding network.
"We support the police's move to investigate the drug mafia network that is playing a role in the government's efforts to deal with the high spike in COVID-19 in recent weeks, especially in the Jakarta area", said Chairman of Betawi Community Consultative Body, Abraham Lulung Lunggana, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 13.
Moreover, said Haji Lulung, on Monday, July 12, the police managed to raid and secure thousands of drugs from warehouses used as stockpiles for COVID-19 and health medicines in the West Peta area, Cengkareng.
The raids found 186 variants of drugs used by hospitals to treat COVID-19 sufferers.
Due to the disclosure of the hoarding of drugs that allegedly came from Semarang, Lulung, who is also a member of the DPR, sees this as a big step from the police to help save the lives of people who are currently lying in the hospital, due to exposure to COVID-19.
"We should be grateful and appreciate the ranks of the Metro Jaya Police who have succeeded in catching the drug hoarding mafia, which is currently being sought after by COVID-19 patients and hospitals", he said.
Haji Lulung admitted that he felt how difficult it had been in the last few days to find COVID-19 medicine for Betawi Community members who were currently exposed to COVID-19.

Haji Lulung assessed that the hoarding of drugs carried out based on seeking the maximum profit in the midst of community difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic was an inhumane and greedy act.
Moreover, he said, these drugs are currently needed by patients with COVID-19 but are not available in the market.
"It turns out that someone has become a greedy mafia in the midst of COVID-19. Due to the actions of the drug mafia, many of our families, relatives, and relatives have become victims. This drug is not available in the community now, if it exists, now the price online is IDR 45 million more. It's a pity for the community, there are also no hospitals", said the member of House of Representatives Commission VII.
In addition, Haji Lulung invited Jakarta residents to jointly support the Jakarta COVID-19 Task Force with the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Leadership Coordination Forum, which is currently focusing on fighting COVID-19 and ensuring the implementation of health protocols goes well.
"It must be understood, this is to suppress the high rate of transmission of COVID-19 cases in the capital city, so we should follow it", he said.
