Determine 2 Suspects, Here Are The Facts Of The Viral Accident 'Container Overwrites Truck' At Tanjung Priok Port
JAKARTA - Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief AKBP Putu Kholis Aryana said the work accident while loading and unloading containers at 210 Meratus Field, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta occurred due to negligence. The video of the accident has gone viral on social media.
"Mistakes, negligence and negligence caused the death of one victim (a container truck driver with the initials EJ)," Putu told reporters in North Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, July 13.
Two people have been named as suspects in this case. First, R as the foreman or person in charge of the activities of a number of loading and unloading equipment or cranes and B as a crane operator with the number QCC 02.
Investigators from the Tanjung Priok Port Police have examined and obtained information from the two suspects along with seven witnesses, including conducting investigations at the scene of the case on Friday, July 9.
"We checked in a marathon, there were seven witnesses who knew the events at the crime scene (TKP). We combined it with the evidence we got from the results of the crime scene," said Kholis.
The basis for the examination uses the allegations in Article 359 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). Article 359 of the Criminal Code reads, "Whoever because of his mistake (negligence) causes another person to die, is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of five years or a maximum imprisonment of one year."
Head of the Tanjung Priok Port Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP David Kanitero added, as a form of negligence, firstly, R as the foreman was not on the crane operated by B, namely crane number QCC 02. R when the incident was on crane QCC 03 hold 3.
At that time, B asked for permission to move the loading and unloading equipment to move containers from the Meratus KM Kariangau Ship to the dock on line one.
Kanitero denied the viral information that said a container had fallen. The results of the crime scene analysis showed that the truck driver in lane three wanted to avoid another vehicle that was already on its way, then turned the steering wheel to the left.
Unfortunately, at that time there was a container in the process of loading and unloading the ship to a temporary place. So that when the container goes down, the truck hits the container.
"So the position of the truck hitting the container (not the container falling on the truck). Regarding the negligence that when lowering the container, the operator has asked the foreman (via handy talkie) permission. And the foreman answered that the traffic was quite heavy. so accidents happen," he said.
The operator allegedly did not heed the answer from the foreman who is responsible for maintaining the safety of themselves and their co-workers as well as the environment around them while working for reasons they are used to it.
"So it can be found that there was negligence on the operator's duties and the negligence of the foreman in the incident," he said.
