Kadin Welcomes The Coming Of The Sinopharm Vaccine, Shinta Kamdani: This Is For The Creation Of Herd Immunity In The Workplace

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) welcomes the arrival of 1,408 million Sinopharm vaccines today. The vaccine will be used for the Gotong Royong vaccination program. Kadin will, in principle, support the government's steps in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy General Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shinta Widjaja Kamdani said the visit showed the government's strong commitment to meeting the vaccination needs for both the public in general, and in particular for entrepreneurs and their employees.

"We welcome the arrival of the Sinopharm vaccine today, and this not only shows the government's strong commitment to the need for community vaccinations that are given free of charge. But also answers our request from business actors to be able to immediately vaccinate workers or employees and their families," he said a virtual press conference, Tuesday, July 13.

Furthermore, Shinta said that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry cooperated with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Kimia Farma and Bio Farma to make the Gotong Royong vaccine program a success. He hopes that more companies, business entities, and private legal entities will participate in the vaccination program.

"So that herd immunity can be created, especially in the work environment, and can be evenly distributed throughout Indonesia, with the participation of independently financing vaccines for workers and their employees' families," he said.

Furthermore, Shinta said the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will always support the government's steps, in this case the government's program aimed at dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In principle, we always support the government's program efforts, which aim to get us all free from this pandemic and can carry out normal activities and restore our economy, and productivity can be raised again," he said.

According to Shinta, the recovery of national health will also boost national economic recovery.

"In our opinion, raising health is an effort to revive the Indonesian economy. Currently, apart from focusing on accelerating national vaccination, we are preparing a program to help the government by building vaccination centers in industrial areas, building emergency oxygen houses and others to be able to fight COVID-19," he said.

Previously, Indonesia returned to stock vaccines today. A total of 1.408 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine have just arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport. The total Sinopharm vaccine to be imported into Indonesia reaches 4 million doses.

"Today we witnessed approximately 1.408 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine brought by Garuda Indonesia flight GA891. This is the third part of Sinopharm vaccination," said Deputy Minister of SOEs Pahala N Mansury in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, July 13.

Pahala said, the number will still increase. Because, in the next three days there will be a Sinopharm vaccine arriving in the country. This vaccine is used for the need for independent COVID-19 vaccination or Gotong Royong.

"Where we estimate that in the next three days there will be around a total of 4 million doses in these three days which is the type of Sinopharm vaccine that will be used to carry out Gotong Royong vaccinations," he said.
