Mashing Actions Are Still Rampant In North Jakarta
JAKARTA - Street crime still haunts the citizens of the capital. Apart from the criminal act of thief, mugging is still rife in DKI Jakarta.
The perpetrators are not infrequently, people who have been in and out of prison or recidivists. But not a few, those who have lived on the streets for a long time are also caught up in criminal acts.
As well as two young men, AM (27) and MRS (15) who will face prison terms for mugging on the streets. The two were caught by police officers after snatching a woman's bag on Jalan Danau Agung 2, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
"The perpetrator took the victim's bag by riding a motorbike. Without further ado, the two of them took away the bag belonging to the victim named Tania Stefani (25)," said Tanjung Priok Police Chief, Police Commissioner Budi Cahyono, in his statement, Sunday, December 8.
Cries for help from the victim were immediately heard by residents who were not far from the location. "The local residents helped catch the perpetrators. Because they were surrounded, they (the perpetrators) could no longer escape and were secured. Then they were immediately taken to the Police," said Budi.
After being arrested, the victim's bag was used as evidence. The contents in the bag are quite valuable. This is because IDR 271 thousand cash and Oppo F11 mobile phone.
"The victims' losses reached millions of rupiah. Currently they are still in the police custody room," said Budi.
Reflecting on the mugging action, the Tanjung Priok area is not the first time used as a place to carry out crimes. It was noted that from early January to December 2019, similar crimes had occurred.
Last Friday, December 25, a girl with the initials HSB (6) became a victim of mugging. The perpetrators are said to have numbered two people using motorbikes.
The mugging action took place not far from the victim's house, to be precise at Jalan Swasembada XX, Kelurahan Kebon Bawang, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. The boy's cell phone was the target of the two criminals.
