Pocong Thief In Madiun Arrested, The Motive Is Fun
MADIUN - Madiun City Police, East Java, arrested three young men for stealing a pocong diorama (doll) installed by officers as a medium or tool for socializing the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol (prokes) to the public.
Head of Binmas Police of Madiun City AKP Hanis Eni Winarsih said the three young residents of Madiun City admitted that they were just stealing a pocong doll on Saturday night, July 10, which was installed by officers at the 901 Bantaran Police Post to make a joke video and then uploaded it to their social media accounts with the aim of viral.
"Even though they were just for fun, the action could not be allowed to continue because the media for the socialization of the COVID-19 health protocol was stolen. Therefore, the officers searched for the three perpetrators and were arrested in their respective homes," said AKP Hanis in Madiun, quoted by Antara, Monday , July 12.
The three were captured from their video which had gone viral. Even though he admitted it was just a fad, his side continued to investigate. All three were subjected to a swab test prior to the investigation.
"For the swab test, it was an SOP before an investigation was carried out. It means, we are trying to protect our members as best we can," he said.
Meanwhile, one of the perpetrators, Dedi Wijaya, admitted that he regretted having committed the theft of the pocong diorama. He didn't expect his actions to end in dealing with the police.
"Yes, just for fun. It (the pocong diorama) does not take it and continues to ride a motorbike around the city. Not to scare people. Just to make fun of yourself. I didn't know it was like this," he said.
The police asked the residents of Madiun City not to imitate the actions of the three youths. Residents are asked to do good creative things and provide positive education to the community, especially during the pandemic
AKP Hanis asked residents to remind each other and participate in providing socialization to others to maintain health protocols so that the transmission of COVID-19 in Madiun City, which is still high, can be suppressed.
