Gubsu Edy Asks Regency And City Governments To Fully Support Medan Emergency PPKM
MEDAN - North Sumatra Governor (Gubsu) Edy Rahmayadi reminded district/city governments to fully participate in the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Medan City during 12-20 July.
"Support is very much needed so that the goal of the Emergency PPKM in Medan City reaches the target, which is to reduce the number of people exposed to COVID-19 in the area," said the Governor of Medan, quoted by Antara, Monday, July 12.
This includes helping to suppress the spread of COVID-19 to other areas. Moreover, he said, in addition to Medan City, Sibolga City is also included in the Tightened PPKM category
"Regency/city governments in North Sumatra are expected to be able to handle the transmission of COVID-19 in their respective regions, because data shows that many residents from outside Medan are also being treated in Medan City," he said.
Gubsu Edy gave an example of the provisional figures for the addition of COVID-19 patients on July 12, there were nine people with details of four residents of Medan and five residents of outside the city of Medan.
"For this reason, all regencies/cities are asked to come together to prevent the spread of COVID-19," he said.
Governor Edy reminded the public to continue implementing the 5M health protocol, namely wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and limiting mobility.
"Comply with health protocols so that we can break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 in North Sumatra," said Governor Edy.
Previously, Medan Mayor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution said that there were 18 points of blocking and diverting traffic flows at the border and the core of Medan City.
Bobby Nasution said that in the first three days, Emergency PPKM was still in the socialization stage of the program and in the future until July 20, sanctions would be imposed for those who violated it.
