Doctor Lois Owien Spreads Hoaxes About COVID-19, Will Be Charged With Infectious Disease Outbreak Law
JAKARTA - The police arrested Doctor Lois Owien for spreading false news about COVID-19. In this case, Lois Owien will be charged with the Infectious Disease Outbreak Act.
"One of them (the alleged article)", said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan to reporters, Monday, July 12.
Rules regarding Communicable Disease Outbreaks are contained in Law number 4 of 1984. However, Kombes Ramadhan emphasized that he could not explain in detail the articles and rules that would be suspected against Dr. Lois Owien. The reason is that the inspection process is still ongoing.
"It's still under investigation. The arrest is 24 hours, how will it be determined. So we can't determine the article yet", he said.

Doctor Lois Owien was arrested by Metro Jaya Police on Sunday, July 11, at around 16.00 WIB. The arrest was the aftermath of her statement which stated that patients or people who died were not caused by the COVID-19 virus but because of excessive drug interactions.
In addition, Lois Owien also said that the drugs used for COVID-19 patients cause complications in the body.
Although arrested by the Metro Jaya Police, the handling of the case of Doctor Lois Owien has been delegated to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.
