92.3 Percent Pass Accuracy And 76.1 Km Distance Throughout Euro 2020, Pedri Is The Best Young Player

JAKARTA - The attacking midfielder of the Spanish national team, Pedri, won the award as the Best Young Player of Euro 2020.

At the age of 18, Pedri became Luis Enrique's first choice to fill the starting line-up in all Spain matches throughout Euro 2020.

In fact, he recorded only one minute of not playing in all of Spain's appearances when he was withdrawn at the end of the quarter-final extra time against Switzerland ahead of the penalty shootout.

Statistics record that Pedri devoured a distance of 76.1 km during his appearance at Euro 2020 with a passing accuracy of 92.3 percent and can dribble a total of 38.23 km in six appearances.

His most flashy appearance came when he managed to make 65 of 66 attempted passes in the semifinal match against Italy.

Barcelona's Pedri is often compared to Blaugrana and Spain legend Andres Iniesta, but Enrique says the 18-year-old can surpass his predecessor.

"What Pedri did in this tournament, at the age of 18, has never been done by anyone," said Enrique as quoted by Antara, Monday, July 12.

"Even Andres Iniesta didn't do that, he is extraordinary and unique," he added.

Pedri became the second winner of the Euro Young Player of the Year award which was only presented in the 2016 edition and was won by Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches.
