MONSTA X's Shownu Announces Military Service This Month

JAKARTA - Shownu from the group MONSTA X will carry out his military service this month.

Through the group's official fan cafe on Saturday, July 10, Shownu wrote a letter addressed to his fans called Monbebe.

“Starting July 22, I will take a short break to fulfill my national defense obligations. It feels like yesterday when I made my debut, but now it's time to go to the military," Shownu began.

He shared how the support and love that fans gave him through all the hardships he was going through. "There were times when I subconsciously started to not appreciate it and there were times when I realized I shouldn't (feel) like that."

"Thank you for making me go through a lot through MONSTA X. I will do my best to repay you, so keep having fun with MONSTA X and Shownu."

He also felt nervous about not being able to promote as MONSTA X for a while.

“Letters have to end abruptly, don't they? Always love you. Yes, I love you guys, and let's meet again later," he ended the letter.

The Starship Entertainment agency that oversees MONSTA X stated that Shownu will conduct training starting June 22 for three weeks.

After that, he will fulfill his military obligations as a public service worker. This is due to Shownu's health condition where he has a retinal detachment in his right eye and a dislocated shoulder.

The retinal detachment experienced made the leader unable to participate in the series of promotions for MONSTA X's new album, One of a Kind since early June.
