No Matter The Children Of Conglomerates And Public Figures, The Police Continue To Process Nia And Ardi To The Green Table
JAKARTA – The status as a public figure and child of the conglomerate Abu Rizal Bakrie, the couple Nia Ramadhani and Ardi Bakrie, are equal in the eyes of the law. Therefore, the Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol. Hengki Haryadi, will continue to process the drug abuse cases they committed to the court.
"If there is a rehabilitation decision as required in Article 54 of Law Number 35 of 2009, the file will not be continued. We will continue it, take it to court, later it will be sentenced by the judge," Hengki said at a press conference at the Kemayoran Metro Police, Saturday, July 10.
Hengki explained that Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics does require that drug users are required to be rehabilitated. Article 54 of Law Number 35/2009, states that "narcotics addicts and victims of narcotics abuse must undergo medical and social rehabilitation."
Hengki stated that at this time there had been a request from the extended family of Nia and Ardi for both of them to be rehabilitated. However, he emphasized that the rehabilitation decision would be carried out by an integrated assessment team from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) consisting of the National Police, Attorney General's Office, doctors and psychiatrists, who were not from the Central Jakarta Metro Police investigation team.
In this case, the three suspects, including the driver with the initials ZN (43) are subject to Article 127 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum criminal sanction of four years in prison. "We carried out a professional investigation and then we presented the suspect. That's why we waited, because we were waiting for the complete results of our investigation," said Hengki.
Previously, the attorneys for Ardiansyah Bakrie and Nia Ramadhani were preparing to apply for rehabilitation for the two married couples, considering their role as users.
Ardi and Nia's attorney, Wa Ode Nur Zaenab, assessed that Nia and Ardi's actions in consuming drugs should be treated with medical treatment through rehabilitation.
"We have prepared a request for rehabilitation. In the near future, the police can carry out an assessment and rehabilitation can be given," said Wa Ode at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Friday night, July 9.
For information, Nia Ramadhani and her husband Ardiansyah Bakrie admitted that they had consumed crystal methamphetamine since five months ago.
