DENPASAR - The Bali Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force recorded an additional 674 cases of COVID-19 on God Island. This figure is the highest daily number of additional cases since the first case was discovered in March 2020.
"Today's addition of cases is the largest population from Denpasar City, which is 216 people, then 108 people with regencies outside Bali and 106 people from Badung Regency", said Secretary of the Bali Province COVID-19 Task Force, I Made Rentin, in Denpasar quoted by Antara, Friday, 9 July.
Then there were additional daily cases from Tabanan Regency (69 people), Buleleng Regency (53 people), Jembrana (45 people), Gianyar (39 people), Bangli (16 people), Klungkung (11 people), Karangasem (6 people), and 5 foreign nationals.
Previously, after the end of the 2020 holiday season, the addition of daily COVID-19 cases in Bali had recorded a record high of 540 people.
However, in the last few days, the addition of daily cases has again been recorded above 500 cases. As of Wednesday, July 7, there were 505 additional cases and on Thursday, July 8, 577 positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed.
With the addition of daily cases of 674 people, as of Friday, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 54,079 people.
"Today it was also reported that an additional 320 people have recovered and six people have died from COVID-19", said the man who is also the Chief Executive of the Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency.
The cumulative number of positive COVID-19 patients who have recovered in Bali Province is 48,826 people (90.29 percent) and 1,618 people (2.99 percent) who died. While the number of active cases to date is 3,635 people (6.72 percent).
According to Rentin, the high increase in daily cases in the local area is due to massive tracing.
"Domestic travelers (PPDN) are also contributors to new cases. Some arrived at the airport and were found to be positive for COVID-19, and some wanted to go home after their holiday in Bali", he said.
Rentin again reminded the Balinese people to always be disciplined in implementing the 6M, namely wearing standard masks correctly, maintaining distance, washing hands, reducing travel, increasing immunity, and obeying the rules.
"In addition, we urge people not to gather and limit social activities by applicable regulations", he said.
