Bobby Nasution Seals The Largest Mall In Medan With IDR 56 Billion In Tax Arrears

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution sealed the biggest shopping center in Medan City, Mall Center Point. The sealing was done because since 2013, the mall has not paid taxes.

Bobby Nasution said the sealing was not done suddenly. Previously, the Medan City Government had repeatedly communicated with the mall manager, PT ACK regarding the payment of taxes and fines.

"Not suddenly, the period before I had also communicated. There was even an MoU between PT KAI and PT ACK, but the MoU has expired, it has taken 2 years, and there has been no follow-up," said Bobby Nasution, Friday, July 9.

According to him, Mall Center Point is in arrears in taxes of up to Rp56 billion. He said that the initial tax value was Rp 80 billion, but after calculating the loss, the figure was Rp 56 billion.

"And today we, the Medan City Government, are asking for our rights, which are required to pay a tax of Rp 56 billion, because we have been asked to recalculate," he said

Bobby Nasution explained, on June 7, 2021, his party had held a meeting with PT ACK. During the meeting, it was agreed that PT ACK would be required to pay its taxes on July 7th.

"Well, we ask that from year to year what has not been paid, it has not been paid until now. We can't agree on the scheme because it's out of the ordinary, so we can't accept it," he added.

During this sealing period, Bobby Nasution confirmed that there would be no activity at the Center Point Mall Medan. To the manager, Jokowi's son-in-law reminded him to immediately pay his tax arrears and fines.

"There can be no activity while there is no payment agreement. Don't just do it because the fine has to be paid. Later if the fine is not paid, we are the Medan city government," said Bobby Nasution.

Not only that, Bobby Nasution also revealed that Mall Center Point Medan did not have a Building Permit (IMB) in its establishment. So, said Bobby, the Rp56 billion tax does not include the IMB levy.

"Well, the IMB has not yet been issued, the Rp56 billion is just a tax. This is for Medan City's investment in the future. We don't want investment to be just a blind eye. We, the Medan City Government, are open to hindering investors, instead we are opening our hands as wide as possible. Our permits are easy. , we help, so don't let it be played with, right," said Bobby Nasution.
