Viral Police Mocked When Disbanding Illegal Racing In Cilandak, One Motorcycle Gang Member Arrested
JAKARTA - Police arrested a member of a motorcycle gang that went viral for persecuting officers because they refused to be disbanded during a wild race in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta.
The motorcycle gang's arrogant action was uploaded to the @jakarta.terkini Instagram account. In this 29-second video, members of a motorcycle gang can be seen ganging up on a police officer.
About four or five people were seen beating the police. Finally, the police fired warning shots.
"After that, we investigated the perpetrators and managed to secure one person now," said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Friday, July 9.
In fact, Yusri emphasized that members in the field are still hunting for the other perpetrators. The actions of motorcycle gangs are very uncivilized, especially when their activities are carried out when the spread of COVID-19 is very high.
"We are still pursuing other perpetrators. We will take firm action against all of them," said Yusri.
On the other hand, Yusi said that the beating started when police officers carried out an Emergency PPKM patrol. Arriving at the location, the police saw illegal racing. So, it was decided to immediately disband it.
"Seeing that there was a crowd at the venue, the plan was to disperse the crowd, but the crowd turned out to be a wild racing crowd," said Yusri.
In the end, the police were attacked by a motorcycle gang. "The disbandment has been carried out but there is resistance, even officers who are ganged up by them," he said.
